Why the World Hates Us

The Gospel message, is exclusive, not inclusive. 

Our message is that people are alienated from God (YHVH) because we have disobeyed God's law. Therefore, we need to be reconciled to Him. There is only one way to be reconciled to God through Yeshua/Jesus who said: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me.” John 14:6

The world doesn’t like this exclusive belief system. It does not like it when they are pointed to ‘enter through the narrow gate/ Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14 

The Way, YHVH’s Kingdom living, is an inherently exclusive belief system. The world hates that message. And it hates the messengers of the message: Us

So How bad can the world’s hatred get? Pretty Bad!! “They will put you out of the synagogue.” John 16:2 

Being put out of the synagogue is a powerful deterrent for many folks. To be excluded from a ‘spiritual’ life of the majority of ‘so called’ believers can be painful and It’s costly. It’s a price that many are not willing to pay.

Yeshua warned us that it’s going to and will get worse for some of us. In fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. John 16:2

Some of the early followers of Yeshua were killed by people who rejected Yeshua, like Stephen, our first martyr Acts 7:59. Saul of Tarsus was one of those who thought that killing His disciples was offering a service to YHVH Acts 8:1. Yeshua told us they will do such things “because they have not known the Father or Me.” John 16:3. These religious people think they know God; follow God, honor God; serve God. The truth is they don’t. Yeshua warned us that the world’s hatred is to be expected and endured. “I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them.” John 16:4

When we know something bad will happen, we can prepare ourselves to endure adversity. Since we have been warned by our High Priest and soon to be returning King that we will be hated by the world, and persecuted and killed by religious leaders who don’t know the Father or the Son, we can prepare ourselves mentally and spiritually to endure their opposition. Opposition, rejection, persecution, if it is not endured, can cause a falling away which means we will not bear fruit. 

Yeshua wants us to bear much fruit. John 15:8 

All this I have told you so that you will remember. John 16:4

We must not fall away. 

We must remain in Yeshua. 

We must remain active members in His Kingdom. We must not disassociate ourselves from the Community of Messiah. 

We must not dilute the Gospel. 

We must affirm that our message, His message is exclusive. 

We must not deny Yeshua. Matthew 10:33

How do we endure the world’s hatred so that we remain in Yeshua and bear much fruit? Yeshua told us “I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy” John 16:22; “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

If we focus on Yeshua, risen from the dead; if we keep our minds and hearts on Yeshua who has overcome the world, we too will overcome the world. We will have a peace and joy that comes directly from the Father and the world won’t be able to take it from us.

The world’s hatred for us won’t go away but it can be endured. YHVH’s promise to us is that we can have peace and joy in the midst of the pain and fear.
